He crowns us with salvation {His deliverance, favor and victory}. The LORD takes delight in His people; He crowns the humble with salvation. (Psalm 14

The Lord's Delight

They spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying: The land we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land. If the LORD delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, a land which flows with milk and honey. Only do not rebel against the LORD, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the LORD is with us. Do not fear them. (Numbers 14:7-9)

'If' the LORD delights in us, THEN He is with us and will bring us into 'the land.' Can you think of anything better than being the Lord's delight? Or anything worse than having His protection depart?

If the LORD delights in us:
He will go before and never leave, fail or forsake us.
Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the LORD your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Then Moses called to Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and courageous, for you shall go with this people into the land which the LORD has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall give it to them as an inheritance. The LORD is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed. (Deuteronomy 31:6-8)

He prepares, orders and makes our steps firm; He will not let us fall.
Those blessed by Him will inherit the land, but those cursed by Him will be cut off. The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, and He delights in his way. Though he stumbles, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with His hand. (Psalm 37:22-24)

He crowns us with salvation {His deliverance, favor and victory}.
The LORD takes delight in His people; He crowns the humble with salvation. (Psalm 149:4)

He rejoices over us as the Bridegroom rejoices over the bride.
You shall no longer be termed Forsaken, Nor shall your land any more be termed Desolate; But you shall be called Hephzibah {my delight is in her}, and your land Beulah {married}; For the LORD delights in you, and your land shall be married {to Him enjoying His blessing and protection}. For as a young man marries a virgin, so your sons will marry you; And as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so your God will rejoice over you. (Isaiah 62:4-5)

He will quiet {sooth, renew} us with His love; He blesses His people with His strength and peace.
The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing. (Zephaniah 3:17) The LORD gives strength to His people; the LORD blesses His people with peace. (Psalm 29:11) When a man's ways are pleasing to the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. (Proverbs 16:7)

He rescues us from our enemies bringing us to an enlarged pasture.
He also brought me out into a broad place; He delivered {rescued, equipped, strengthened} me because He delighted in me. (Psalm 18:19) By this I know that You are pleased with me, because my enemy does not shout in triumph over me. (Psalm 41:11)

Exactly what makes the Lord delight in us? What is pleasing in His sight?

Those who fear Him and hope in His mercy.
The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His mercy. (Psalm 147:11) Behold, the Lord's eye is upon those who fear Him [who revere and worship Him with awe], who wait for Him and hope in His mercy and loving-kindness. (Psalm 33:18 AMP)

Those who are upright in heart, whose walk is blameless.
The LORD detests men of perverse heart but He delights in those whose ways are blameless. (Proverbs 11:20) I know also, my God, that You test the heart and have pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things; and now with joy I have seen Your people, who are present here to offer willingly to You. (1 Chronicles 29:17) He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8)

Those who have faith and earnestly seek Him.
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6) ...the LORD is with you when you are with Him and if you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you. (2 Chronicles 15:2) You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:13)

Those with gentle and quiet spirits.
Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewellery and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. (1 Peter 3:3-4)

Those who are faithful, obedient and know God.
For I delight in faithfulness, not simply in sacrifice; I delight in the knowledge of God, not simply in burnt offerings. (Hosea 6:6) But Samuel replied: Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams. (1 Samuel 15:22) The eyes of the LORD search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him. (2 Chronicles 16:9) Praise the LORD. Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who finds great delight in His commands. (Psalm 112:1) Teach me Your way, O LORD; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name. I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, and I will glorify Your name forevermore. (Psalm 86:11-12)

From NetBible Psalm 112:1; Psalm 86:11, a heart that fears the Lord, stands in reverent awe, honour, and respect of the Lord. A heart that fears the Lord obeys the Lord with great delight. A heart united to fear the Lord's name is a heart fully committed and surrendered to the Lord's will. The word unite here means to become one with.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments; His praise endures forever. (Psalm 111:10)

My son, keep my words, and treasure my commands within you. Keep my commandments and live, and my teaching as the apple of your eye {as your most prized possession}. (Proverbs 7:1-2)

To be pleasing in the Lord's sight and 'kept as the apple of His eye', we must treasure and keep His words as 'the apple of our eye' - our most prized possession. From NetBible Isaiah 11:3; delight in the fear of the Lord, whole hearted obedience, is as pleasing to the Lord as incense. It is the Lord's delight to accept a fully committed heart as a 'fragrant' offering of worship.

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma {sweet incense}. (Ephesians 5:1-2)

It is this 'uniting' of hearts to fear the Lord, this sweet incense, that brings forth His praise. And His praise endures forever!

Then a voice came from the throne, saying: Praise our God, all you His servants, you who fear Him, both small and great! Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear. Then the angel said to me, Write: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb! (Revelation 19:5-9)
