Mom gave her own life to save her sons
Saturday April 24th. Yazoo City, Mississippi.
30-year-old Nikki Bradshaw Carpenter covered her 3 sons with a mattress
and then laid on top of it to protect them from the coming massive
Tornado. The house was picked up and thrown 50 yards and smashed to the
ground. As they searched for them, the mattress was buried underneath
the rubble of the house. Nikki was still on top of the mattress and
her sons underneath. She didn’t make it, but her sons survived,
sheltered underneath the mattress and the wreckage. Nikki gave her own
life to save her 3 babies.

Giving when it Counts
There was a little girl named Liz who
was suffering from a rare & serious disease. Her only chance of
recovery appeared to be a blood transfusion from her 5-year old brother,
who had
miraculously survived the same disease and had developed the antibodies
needed to combat the illness. The doctor explained the situation to her
little brother, and asked the little boy if he would be willing to give
his blood to his sister.
He hesitated for only a moment before taking a deep breath and saying,
"Yes I’ll do it if it will save her." As the transfusion progressed, he
lay in
bed next to his sister and smiled, seeing the color returning to her
cheeks. Then his
face grew pale and his smile faded.
He looked up at the doctor and asked with a
trembling voice, "Will I start to die right
away?".
Being young, the little boy had misunderstood the doctor. He thought he
was going to have to give his
sister ALL of his blood in order to save her.

The Scars of Life
Some years ago, on a hot summer day in south Florida, a
little boy decided to go for a swim in the old swimming hole behind his
house. In a hurry to dive into the cool water, he ran out the back door,
leaving behind shoes, socks, and shirt as he went. He flew into the
water, not realizing that as he swam toward the middle of the lake, an
alligator was swimming toward the shore. His father working in the yard
saw the two as they got closer and closer together. In great fear, he
ran toward the water, yelling to his son as loudly as he could. Hearing
his voice, the little boy became alarmed and made a U-turn to swim to
his father. It was too late. Just as he reached his father, the
alligator reached him. From the dock, the father grabbed his little boy
by the arms just as the alligator snatched his legs. That began an
incredible tug-of-war between the two. The alligator was much stronger
than the father, but the father was much too passionate to let go. A
farmer happened to drive by, heard his screams, raced from his truck,
took aim and shot the alligator.
Remarkably, after weeks and weeks in the hospital, the little boy
survived.
His legs were extremely scarred by the vicious attack of the animal.
And, on his arms, were deep scratches where his father’s fingernails dug
into his flesh in his effort to hang on to the son he loved.
The newspaper reporter who interviewed the boy after the trauma, asked
if he would show him his scars. The boy lifted his pant legs. And then,
with Obvious pride, he said to the reporter, "But look at my arms. I
have great scars on my arms, too. I have them because my Dad wouldn’t
let go.
------------------
You and I can identify with that little boy. We have scars, too No, not
from an alligator, but the scars of a painful past. Some of those scars
are unsightly and have caused us deep regret. But, some wounds,my
friend, are because God has refused to let go. In the midst of your
struggle, He’s been there holding on to you. The Scripture teaches that
God loves you. You are a child of God. He wants to protect you and
provide for you in every way But sometimes we foolishly wade into
dangerous situations, not knowing what lies ahead. The swimming hole of
life is filled with peril - and we forget that the enemy is waiting to
attack. That’s when the tug-of-war begins - and if you have the scars of
His love on your arms, be very, very grateful. He did not and will not
ever let you go.
Please pass this on to those you love. God has blessed you, so that you
can be a blessing to others. You just never know where a person is in
his/her life and what they are going through. Never judge another
persons scars, because you don’t know how they got them.

The Prayers of Others
A voyaging ship was wrecked during a storm at sea and only
two of the men on it were able to swim to a small, desert like island.
The two survivors, not knowing what else to do, agree that they had no
other recourse but to pray to God.
However, to find out whose prayer was more powerful, they agreed to
divide the territory between them and stay on opposite sides of the
island.
The first thing they prayed for was food. The next morning, the first
man saw a fruit-bearing tree on his side of the land, and he was able to
eat its fruit. The other man’s parcel of land remained barren.
After a week, the first man was lonely and he decided to pray for a
wife. The next day, another ship was wrecked, and the only survivor was
a woman who swam to his side of the land. On the other side of the
island, there was nothing.
Soon the first man prayed for a house, clothes, more food. The next
day, like magic, all of these were given to him. However, the second
man still had nothing.
Finally, the first man prayed for a ship, so that he and his wife could
leave the island. In the morning, he found a ship docked at his side of
the island. The first man boarded the ship with his wife and decided to
leave the second man on the island. He considered the other man
unworthy to receive God’s blessings, since none of his prayers had been
answered.
As the ship was about to leave, the first man heard a voice from heaven
booming, "Why are you leaving your companion on the island?"
"My blessings are mine alone, since I was the one who prayed for them,"
the first man answered. "His prayers were all unanswered and so he does
not deserve anything."
"You are mistaken!" the voice rebuked him.. "He had only one prayer,
which I answered. If not for that, you would not have received any of
my blessings."
"Tell me," the first man asked the voice, "what did he pray for that I
should owe him anything?"
"He prayed that all your prayers be answered."
For all we know, our blessings are not the fruits of our prayers alone,
but those of another praying for us.

Be a river, not a lake. If you are just storing up talents and blessings
God has given you, and not sharing them, you are a lake. If you share
what God has given you with others, you are a river, and God’s blessings
flow through you and outward to others. He blesses you so that you can
bless others. You can bless others in many ways, with your talents,
time, money, just listening or lending a helping hand. God will provide a
great abundance for you if you are a river and not just a lake.
Let God’s love flow through you to others. God is the only source of
Unconditional Love. As God’s children, we are told to let His love flow
through us to the world. John 13:34.

Heaven and Hell
Heaven and Hell
----
A holy man was having a conversation with the Lord one day and said,
"Lord, I would like to know what Heaven and Hell are like."
The Lord led the holy man to two doors.
He opened one of the doors and the holy man looked in.
In the middle of the room was a large round table. In the middle of the
table was a large pot of stew, which smelled delicious and made the holy
man’s mouth water. The people sitting around the table were thin and
sickly. They appeared to be famished.
They were holding spoons with very long handles, that were strapped to
their arms and each found it possible to reach into the pot of stew and
take a spoonful.
But because the handle was longer than their arms, they could not get
the spoons back into their mouths.
The holy man shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering.
The Lord said, "You have seen Hell."
They went to the next room and opened the door. It was exactly the same
as the first one.
There was the large round table with the large pot of stew which made
the holy man’s mouth water.
The people were equipped with the same long-handled spoons, but here the
people were well nourished and plump, laughing and talking. The holy
man said, "I don’t understand."
It is simple," said the Lord. "It requires but one skill.
You see they have learned to feed each other, while the greedy think
only of themselves.
