Girl with polio a sponsorship success

Girl with polio a sponsorship success

India As a young girl living in rural India who is physically disabled from polio, Shini has grown up with her share of obstacles.

But in a country where the majority of children do not complete high school, and over half of the females are illiterate, she is a glowing success in the eyes of her sponsors, Jason and Angelene Rowe.

For over 5 years, the Rowes have sponsored Shini through India Partners. Their support has provided Shini with food, clothing, medical care, shelter, and Christian education. It has also proved to be invaluable in another way, as she is now training to become a nurse at the Mother Teresa School of Nursing.

Shini, who is a Christian, has benefited from her educational opportunities because they have given her a better understanding of Jesus’ love for her. Brian Palmer with India Partners says, “Some of the children in the sponsorship program at India Partners…come in as Christians; some are not. All the children are exposed to Christ-centered education.”

Jason and Angelene Rowe live in Southern California with their 5 sons. Jason works as a Marketing and Digital Media Consultant, and Angelene is a stay-at-home mom. They are thrilled by their "daughter’s" success.

“As parents of five boys, we knew we wanted the first child we sponsored to be a girl,” they write. “We have watched our little girl grow from a sweet child to a young lady who has graduated from her basic studies and is now pursuing a ministry as a nurse. And what a ministry she will have!”

Shini has shared her joy with the Rowes in recent reports to them, and the gratitude she demonstrates is considerable.

“Thank you very much for your great help all these years,” Shini writes. “I am grateful and thankful to you. It is only because of your help that I was able to continue my studies all this time.”

Sponsoring a child does more than provide for the daily needs of children; it gives them a chance to have a brighter future, and that future can directly impact countless lives. And what's more, child sponsorship allows you to play a part in God’s work.

“Child sponsorship is about more than just being charitable,” Jason and Angelene write. “It is an act of obedience to God. It is being a faithful steward. It is making yourself available to be used in a master plan that reaches far beyond pictures and updates.”

For $30 a month—less than a dollar a day—you can give a child hope for a brighter tomorrow. To sponsor one of the more than 200 children who are in need of your compassion, click here.
