DJ Project is a Romanian trance music group, made up of Gino Manzotti (Handke Giuseppe) and DJ Maxx (Ovidiu Florea) as producers and Elena Baltagan as the vocalist. The group was formed in 2000 in Timişoara, with their first album, Experience, released in 2001. At the MTV Europe Music Awards 2006, DJ Project were awarded with "Best Romanian Act" prize. In 2006 and 2007 the group has received the award for the best dance group at the MTV Romania Awards. At the end of June 2007 they released their sixth album, Două Anotimpuri. In early 2008, Robbins Entertainment picked up DJ Project for their first American release, Before I Sleep. The album is dubbed under the name "Elena", the same advertising name used in England. The album was released on iTunes on March 18, 2008 and was available in CD format on April 1, 2008. In the summer of 2009 Elena left DJ Project as a result of their earlier conflicts, Elena taking the decision to go on a solo career. In octombrie 2000, doi DJ din Timisoara, DJ Gino Manzotti (Handke Giuseppe) si DJ Maxx (Florea Ovidiu Nicolae) au hotarat sa infiinteze un proiect muzical, intitulat, cum altfel decat DJ Project.
Anul urmator apare primul lor material discografic, „Experience” la Media Services Sony Music. In 2002, o noua aparitie discografica: „Spune-mi tot ce vrei”.

Din toamna lui 2003, Dj Gino Mazotti si Dj Maxx au cooptat-o in proiectul lor si pe Elena (Baltagan Elena) si au scos primul album in noua formula, „Lumea ta” al treilea material discografic de la infiintarea formatiei.
In 2004, DJ PROJECT a fost formatia romaneasca ce a stationat cel mai mult in topurile radio din Romania cu o singura melodie: 40 de saptamani in Romanian Top 100 cu piesa „Lumea ta”.

In 2005, single-ul „Lumea ta” si-a inceput cariera europeana, fiind promovat de Ministry of Sound, cea mai importanta casa de discuri din Europa, specializata pe euro-dance. La posturile de radio din multe tari europene s-a difuzat atat melodia de baza, in romana sau engleza, cat si o multime de remixuri. In Europa DJ Project a fost promovat sub numele de „Elena”.

Tot in 2005, membrii trupei DJ Project se intorc cu un nou album, intitulat „Soapte”. Acest album a beneficiat de o tripla lansare: prima in Timisoara, in clubul Heaven, a doua la MTV Live, intr-un concert in Piata Constitutiei din Bucuresti si a treia la club „Bamboo” din Capitala. A fost ultimul concert al unei trupe romanesti in Bamboo, inainte de incendiul care a distrus vechiul club.

Anul 2006 a inceput in forta pentru formatie. Distinsa cu premiul “Best Romanian Dance ” in cadrul MTV Romanian Music Awards - Cluj 2006, trupa DJ Project a filmat, la solicitarea casei de discuri Universal Music, un videoclip pentru afara, la piesa “Before I Sleep”, varianta in limba engleza a super-hit-ului lor “Privirea ta”, videoclip care in 2007 a putut fi vizionat si pe televiziunile muzicale romanesti.

Pe 29 iulie 2006, DJ Project au lansat cel de-al cincilea album din cariera, intitulat „Povestea mea”. Acesta continea 15 piese, printre care si versiunea in limba engleza („Before I Sleep”) a superhitului „Privirea ta”. Celelalte 14 piese sunt prime auditii, intre care 3 sunt extended-uri, una este club version, si una este un featuring cu Jazzy.

Pe 4 august 2006 trupa a primit premiul „ Best Dance Group” la premiile Romanian Top 100 desfasurate la Bacau.
In septembrie 2006, primul extras pe single de pe noul album, si intitulat „Inca o noapte” ocupa locul intai in RT100, topul topurilor de radio.

In noiembrie 2006 formatia primeste la Copenhaga premiul pentru BEST ROMANIAN ACT la MTV Europe Music Awards, trofeu care consfinteste cea mai puternica ascensiune din muzica romaneasca a ultimilor ani si impune definitiv un brand muzical , DJ PROJECT, a carui sonoritate devine echivalenta cu performanta artistica.

In mai 2007 formatia primeste, pentru al doilea an consecutiv, titlul de cea mai buna trupa dance, la premiile MTV Romania.

La sfarsitul lunii iunie 2007, formatia a lansat cel de-al saselea album din cariera ( daca nu tinem cont de faptul ca precedentul a aparut in doua editii, simplu si dulu CD), intitulat « Doua anotimpuri ».

Pana in 1996 Gino a lucrat cu DJ BOBO, 20 FINGERS si FUN FACTORY. Dupa 1996 s-a canalizat numai pe tehno si house si a colaborat cu MARUSHA, WESTBAM, TOM NOVI, BROOKLIN BOUNCE si VENGABOYS.

Maxx a facut cam tot ceea ce putea face in Romania ca DJ. A luat parte la mai multe turnee organizate cu cei mai importanti DJ de la noi din tara.

Dupa ce in anul 2001 duetul a lansat primul lor disc, intitulat "Experience", anul 2002 le-a adus consacrarea in Romania, datorita albumului "Spune-mi Tot Ce Simti", extrasul pe single cu acelasi nume cucerind topurile.

La finalul anului 2003, mai precis pe data de 26 decembrie, DJ Project a lansat al treilea disc in Romania. Intitulat "Lumea Ta", LP-ul a fost lansat la Kristal Glam Club, printr-un concert care a avut-o ca invitata, printre altii, si pe Dina Vass.

In 2004, DJ Project a fost formatia care a stationat cel mai mult in topurile radio din Romania: 40 de saptamani in Romanian Top 100 cu piesa "Lumea ta".

In 2005, single-ul "Lumea ta" a fost lansat la nivel european, fiind promovat catre de Ministry of Sound, casa de discuri specializata pe euro-dance. In Europa, formatia DJ Project este promovata sub numele de Elena.

In luna iunie 2005, DJ Project editeaza al patrulea sau album de studio, intitulat "Soapte". El a primit Discul de Aur, acordat de catre Media Services pentru vanzari de peste 35.000 de unitati.

De asemenea, DJ Project au fost nominalizati in 2005 la categoria Romanian Best Act din cadrul MTV Music Awards, Voltaj fiind insa trupa aleasa castigatoare.

"Gino Manzotti, on his real name Handke Giuseppe, was born on 22 January 1972, in Arad. He lived in Germany from 1990 to 1999. There, after putting music in a café, he started mixing in the best known club of the Bayern region, his fame as a DJ continually increasing. Therefore, he was invited to mix in Forum, Alcatraz, Metropolis or Nightfly, where he performed with many internationally recognized DJ`s, like Tom Novy, Sven Vath, Marusha, Westbam, Talla 2XLC, Tiesto, Tomcraft or ATB. In 2002, he performed at one of the major house events in the world, the Love Parade in Berlin. After returning in Romania, due to his friendship with Tommy Serano, Tom Novy, Tomcraft and ATB, he organized many events in Romanian clubs, where special guests were famous DJ`s such as Da Hool, Andry Nalin, Voodoo & Serano, Max Graham, Smokin Jo, Dave Seaman, Margaret Dygas, Miss Sylvie, ATB, Moguai. Presently, besides being a member of the well known musical group DJ Project, he performs as a DJ in clubs all around the country, also taking care, together with Maxx, of the trendiest club in Timisoara, Zambara.

Maxx, on his real name Ovidiu Florea, was born on 7 July 1973, in Alba Iulia. Passionate to music, he started the classes of the School of Popular Art, the Percussion section. During highschool, he was member of a rock band, being attracted to the music of Guns’n’ Roses, Iron Maiden, Metallica, AC/DC, but also to the pop group Depeche Mode. The first major concert he went to was the one of Prodigy, at the beginning of the 90`s, which he describes as an unforgettable experience. He performed as a DJ in many clubs in his hometown and, in 1997, he became resident of Park Place club in Timisoara. He was invited to mix in clubs all over Romania, having the opportunity to perform with famous DJ`s, such as ATB, Moguai, Marusha, Da Hool, Andry Nalin, Voodoo&Serano, Dave Seaman, Max Graham, Smokin’ Jo, Level K. Like Gino, he is presently member of DJ Project, but also one of the most appreciated DJ`s of Romania.

28 February 1984, in Buzau. She attended the classes of the local Art Highschool. At present, she is a student at the Faculty of Music, part of the Western University of Timisoara. In the 9th grade, she began taking part in musical contests and festivals, such as the ones in Ploiesti, Baia Mare, Nehoiu, Mangalia (Callatis), Buzau, where she won many prizes. She became member of DJ Project in 2004, alongside with the album “Lumea ta”. Meanwhile, she was a canto teacher at a private music school in Bucharest. Due to her amazing voice, with a warm and unique timbre, she is considered to be one of the best singers in Romania and the most interesting voice of the last years."
