Caddy was born on 10 September 1976 in Bucharest. You can call one of the first MC in Romania. In 1993, Caddy Black Underground Tataee formed with what was later to become BUG Mafia.
It started with the stage name Klax 187 (KLAX - the sound made by the gun, 187 - police code used by the Americans when referring to a murder). Caddy is short for Cadillac.

Trupa B.U.G. Mafia ii are in componenta pe Caddy, Tataee si Uzzi.

Caddy s-a nascut pe data de 10 septembrie 1976 in Bucuresti. Il putem numi unul dintre primii MC din Romania. In 1993, Caddy formeaza impreuna cu Tataee Black UnderGround ce urma sa devina mai tarziu B.U.G. Mafia.

A debutat cu numele de scena Klax 187 (klax - sunetul facut de arma, 187 - codul folosit de politistii americani atunci cand se refera la o crima). Caddy reprezinta prescurtarea de la Cadillac.|

Tataee a semnat pe langa toate albumele B.U.G. Mafia si proiecte ale unor formatii precum XXL & 10 Grei, La Familia, M&G, Parazitii, Villy, Ganja, Luchian etc. S-a nascut pe 17 octombrie 1976. A avut mai multe nume de scena fiind pe rand Doom si Mr. Juice, cel prezent fiind primit de la un prieten.

Uzzi - Nascut pe 26 martie 1978 in Bucuresti, Uzzi si-a inceput cariera de MC prin anii 1992-1993 in trupa Demonii, una dintre putinele trupe care cantau gangsta rap in limba romana in acea vreme. Paraseste aceasta trupa in 1994, pentru a se alatura lui Caddy si Tataee, formand Black UnderGround Mafia.

B.U.G. Mafia

La sfarsitul anului 1993, pe vremea cand albumele de hip hop circulau doar in cercuri restranse, iar cd-urile erau obiecte rare si pretioase, Dragos Vlad-Neagu il intalneste pe strada pe Vlad Irimia. Ei intra in vorba, subiectul fiind palarioara purtata de Vlad care era brodata de mana cu numele unei formatii de gen, celebra si acum, adica Cypress Hill.

Amandoi aveau deja tentative de intrare in lumea hip hop ca artisti si pun bazele trupei Black Underground la inceputul lui ’94 impreuna cu alti doi baieti care la scurt timp parasesc aceasta trupa, indreptandu-se probabil catre alte domenii. Dragos si Vlad, cu numele de scena Klax 187 si respectiv Doom (astazi Caddy si Tataee), reusesc sa isi inregistreze prima piesa, in limba engleza, cu ajutorul lui Adi Niculescu, moderatorul emisiuni “Yo! Rap Is Moving!” de la radio Uniplus. Dupa ce in prealabil fusese cantata live in cadrul emisiunii mai sus amintite, piesa “Straight Outta Da Hell” ruleaza acum, in aceiasi emisiune, sub forma de pozitiv facut in studioul de productie al Uniplus-ului. Baietii continua sa creeze piese in engleza, realizandu-si instrumentalele cu ajutorul lui Romeo Vanica, pe keyboard-ul acestuia. In 6 octombrie 1994, trupa are prima aparitie live intr-un concert organizat in Club A de catre DJ Sleek, primul promoter al hip hop-ului in Romania. Urmeaza o serie de show-ri, pe la baluri de boboci ale unor licee din Bucuresti, alaturi de cei de la M&G. Se mai inregistreza doua piese in engleza care insa nu apar pe radio. In cautare de colaboratori, Klax 187 si Doom intalnesc trupa Demonii, din care facea parte si Uzzi, pe atunci sub numele de scena Drama. Se formeaza o grupare, Cartelul, impreuna cu un al trei-lea membru, Nicollo, artist solo.n|

Prima evolutie live a gruparii se produce la concertul “Rap Attack” din martie 1995, organizat de catre Adi Niculescu la teatrul “Ion Creanga”. Publicul de hip hop creste de la cateva zeci la cateva sute. Demonii se destrama, iar Alin Demeter, adica Drama este cooptat in Black Underground. Odata cu venirea noului component, trupa trece de la engleza la romana. Cei trei apar astfel la “Rap Attack”, editia a doua, facandu-si deja loc in topul trupelor de gen pe atunci inca necomercializate. La inceputul verii lui ’95 trupa semneaza primul contract de productie, multiplicare si comercializare cu casa de discuri Amma, urmand ca piesa “Psihopatu’” sa intre pe o compilatie de rap. Totodata, numele trupei se mareste devenind Black Underground Mafia, iar Drama si Doom fac pasul catre trecerea la Uzzi si respectiv Mr.Juice. Pe 20 septembrie 1995 apare primul album al trupei numit “Mafia”, lansat la taraba in Piata Universitatii. Pe acest album, invitati pe piese sunt M&G si Marijuana, iar pe interludii Rona Hartner, “Coco” Coroianu, Ben, Alex. Materialul discografic inregistrat in studioul lui Tino Furtuna de la Holograf este al trei-lea ca data a aparitei pe piata din hip hop-ul romanesc, dupa cele ale trupelor Racla si Parazitii si urma sa fie reeditat in ‘97, fara acordul trupei, la o alta casa de discuri, sub pretextul ca ar fi un material nou. Baietii, deja cu un album la vanzare, inregistreaza cel de-al doilea album in regim propriu cu bani imprumutati de la Dragos Hriscu, un bun prieten, actualmente patronul clubului Zebra din Bacau.

Trupa se numeste acum B.U.G. Mafia, dupa abrevierea cuvintelor Black UnderGround si reuseste sa semneze un nou contract, de data aceasta insa cu Cat Music. Lansat in 8 iunie 1996, E.P.-ul (album scurt) ”Inc-o Zi, Inc-o Poveste”, gata de multiplicat la ora semnarii contractului, aduce mai multa melodie scoasa bine in evidenta si de prezenta vocii feminine a Iulianei “July” Petrache pe piesa “Pantelimonu’ Petrece”. Aceeasi piesa, devenita hit, este respinsa de catre Tele7ABC ca propunere in vederea realizarii unui videoclip. Prin topurile catorva radiouri din tara au mai stat putin “Inc-o Zi, Inc-o Poveste” si “Viata De Borfas”. Incep concertele in afara Bucurestiului, primul fiind in Bacau. Iar vanzarile urca, ajungand la bilantul final, adica la retragerea de pe piata, cu o cifra de peste 22.000 de exemplare. Pe 29 noiembrie 1996, B.U.G. Mafia arunca pe piata cea de a treia bomba ,albumul “Nascut Si Crescut In Pantelimon”. Piesa “Pana Cand Moartea Ne Va Desparti”, pe care apare pentru prima data Puya, face ravagii. Trupa este intr-o continua crestere. La succesul albumului mai contribuie piesele “Nascut Si Crescut In Pantelimon” si “Lacrimi”. Colaboratorii sunt intr-un numar mai mare, astfel ca ii intalnim, pe langa Puya, si pe: July, Baxter, FreakaDaDisk,Tragaci, C.R.Bel. Apar chitara reala si scratch-ul. Totul suna mai bine si mai interesant. Klax187 isi shimba numele in Daddy Caddy. Vanzarile depasesc 30.000 de exemplare. Pana la acest album inclusiv, baietii l-au avut ca inginer de sunet pe Emil “Coco” Coroianu.

La inceputul verii lui ’97 apare primul maxi-single al mafiotilor, “Hoteluri”, compus din piesa care ii da numele, remixul acesteia, instrumentalele si o piesa bonus. Coperta casetei este de carton, “ca afara’. Se vand 20.000 de exemplare. Tot in ’97, insa in toamna, Uzzi, Caddy, Juice, impreuna cu Sisu si Puya (membrii trupei La Familia) sunt arestati, dupa terminarea unui concert la Turnu Severin, pentru “ultraj contra bunelor moravuri” - articolul 231 din codul penal. Toti au fost eliberati dupa 10 ore in care au dat declaratii la politie si procuratura. A doua zi presa scria despre acest incident, aducandu-i astfel pe baieti si mai mult in atentia marelui public. De atunci nu au mai avut nici o problema in legatura cu acest caz. In aceeasi toamna a anului 1997 se lanseaza, la club Martin, “Deasupra Tuturor”, album care aduce cu sine premiera de a fi imprimat, pe langa caseta, si pe CD. Se remarca piesele “Marijuana 2”,”Nimic Mai Presus”, “Jucator Adevarat” si “Delicvent La 15 Ani”. Ca invitati subscriu: Puya, July, Baxter, Gunja si Raluca. Sound-ul incepe sa se apropie de adevar. Se folosesc basi reali si efecte pe voci. DJ Phantom (C.R.Bel) ii ajuta pe baieti sa introduca sample-uri in muzica lor. Desi nu a beneficiat de nici-un hit rasunator ca albumele precedente, “Deasupra Tuturor” a atins cota de 45.000 de exemplare vandute.

In iunie ’98 iese maxi-single-ul “Pentru ‘98”. Piesa bonus a acestui material, ”N-ai Fost Acolo”, este cea care anunta practic aparitia unui album tare. Pe 20 septembrie 1998 se intampla lansarea albumului “De Cartier”. Invitati sa colaboreze, si-au adus aportul la realizarea acestuia: Catalina, Tenny-e(Cheloo), Don Baxter, Puya, Gunja, July si Andreea. Piesa de promovare, “Poveste Fara Sfarsit”, urca rapid in top, iar lumea cumpara albumul in draci. Trupa castiga fani din toate paturile sociale. Toata lumea vorbeste despre ei si controversa creste la maxim. La “Galele Ballantine’s” castiga premiul pentru “cea mai buna piesa rap”, dar pierd premiul pentru “cea mai buna piesa a anului” in fata celor de la Holograf, fapt ce face ca toata lumea sa se ridice, sa bata din picioare si sa scandeze “MA-FI-A!”. Presa ii prezinta cu titlul “Fenomenul B.U.G. Mafia”. Mihai Tatulici ii invita la emisiunea “Audienta Nationala”. Albumul este sustinut in continuare de alte piese, bune de top, insa prea putin difuzate deoarece aveau versuri care trebuiau cenzurate sau abordau subiecte care pe prea multi ii speriau. Printre ele se numara: ”Limbaj De Cartier”, “Hai Sa Fim High”, “De Cartier”, “La Vorbitor” si altele. Loredana Groza le propune baietilor sa scoata in colaborare un maxi-single. Mafia accepta si produce “Lumea E A Mea”, piesa care are parte de primul videoclip profesionist facut vreodata in Romania. “Lumea E A Mea” se vinde in 25.000 de exemplare, iar “De Cartier” in 125.000 de exemplare.

In 13 martie ’99, la Sala Polivalenta, are loc cel mai mare concert al trupei. Datorita amplorii pe care o luase “fenomenul”, baietii au fost chemati la IGP pentru a da cate o declaratie referitoare la materialul pe care il aveau la vanzare. In august ’99 iese un nou maxi-single, “Romania”, care vorbeste despre patriotism, despre conditia sociala a romanilor si despre modele demne de urmat cum ar fi: Hagi, Lacatus si Ghita Muresan. Leonard Doroftei le cere permisiunea de a intra in ring, la toate meciurile, pe aceasta piesa, spunand ca il motiveaza. Desi era prevazut sa ii pregatesca terenul, nici o piesa de pe “Romania” nu se regaseste pe albumul “Dupa Blocuri” deoarece, zic ei, ”erau prea multe idei si nu au mai incaput”. Mafia concerteaza la penitenciarul Rahova la cererea mai multor detinuti. Albumul se lasa asteptat pana in data de 18 ianuarie 2000. Piesa care da numele albumului, “Dupa Blocuri”, este aleasa ca single. Se face videoclip pe pelicula, regizor fiind Bogdan Albu, iar operator Viorel Sergovici, ca si la cel cu Loredana care este filmat insa in digital. Acesta este primul videoclip exclusiv al trupei. La piese colaboreaza M&G, Luchian, Nico, Puya si Roxana, iar la interludii Teava, Plesa, Greu’ si Catalin. Lui Juice i se spune de acum Tataee. Desi cel mai bine inchegat din punct de vedere muzical, albumul este “inchis si violent”. Versurile sunt mai simple, mai dure si mai directe decat pe albumul precedent. Alte piese foarte ascultate sunt: “Capu’ Sus”, “Anturaju’”, “La Greu”, “Cartieru’ Pantelimon”. Vanzarile sunt si de aceasta data foarte bune, adica 90.000 de exemplare. Cum dupa ploaie vine intotdeauna soare, baietii ies in august 2000 cu o piesa deschisa, melodica, in colaborare pentru prima data cu Villy pe care il cunosteau din ’97, de la Zalau. “Un 2 Si Trei De 0”, asa se numeste piesa, este lansata pe maxi-single. Radiourile o difuzeaza, cluburile o introduc in program, iar videoclipul lui Tudor Giurgiu uimeste pe toata lumea. Pe 17 octombrie 2000 apare albumul “Intotdeauna Pentru Totdeauna” care nu aduce prea mare succes, dar se vinde in peste 70.000 de exemplare. Colaboratori: M&G, Puya, Luchian, Maximillian, Pacha Man, Villy si Moni-K. Este prima oara cand scot 3 materiale intr-un singur an. In 2001, B.U.G. castiga premiul “cel mai bun album rap”, cu “Dupa Blocuri”, la Premiile Industriei Muzicale, dar si “cea mai buna trupa rap” si “cel mai bun videoclip”, cu “Un2 Si Trei De 0”, la Premiile Bravo. Tot in 2001 trupa realizeaza o noua premiera, extragand pe maxi-single piesa “Poezie De Strada” de pe albumul “Intotdeauna Pentru Totdeauna” care era deja pe piata. Remixul acesteia are parte de un videoclip din nou foarte bun si devine in scurt timp hit. Produsul este cel mai bine vandut maxi-single al trupei (peste 50.000 de exemplare). Baietii pun pe picioare casa de productie “Casa” si ii semneaza pe M&G, Villy, XXL&10Grei, Mahsat, Anturaj si Luchian. Compilatia “B.U.G. Mafia Prezinta Casa” este lansata pe 20.02.2002, in clubul Dumars (cu intrare la ora 20.02) si se doreste a fi o prezentare a tuturor artistilor semnati. In videoclipul piesei “Cine E Cu Noi” (piesa de promovare a compilatiei) apar Leonard Doroftei si Marius Lacatus care sunt de fapt mentionati si in versuri. Pe refrenul piesei isi da concursul Nico. Si aceasta piesa devine hit. La Premiile Industriei Muzicale 2002 castiga premiul “cel mai bun proiect rap” cu “Poezie De Strada”. Vanzarile trupei B.U.G. Mafia urca din nou, compilatia vanzandu-se in 100.000 de exemplare. Urmeaza o pauza discografica de aproape 2 ani, timp in care se pregatesc albume ale mai multor artisti de la Casa. In componenta trupei B.U.G. apare al 4-lea membru, DJ Swamp. “Orice trupa de hip hop trebuie sa aiba un dj”.

Pe 1 decembrie 2003 apare videoclipul piesei “Romaneste”, iar pe 7 decembrie, acelasi an, apare albumul “Baietii Buni”. Materialul este cel mai complex de pana acum cuprinzand 15 piese, 5 interludii, intro si outro. Invitati sunt: Villy, M&G, XXL&10Grei, Mahsat, Mario (fost membru Anturaj, trupa care nu mai exista), Luchian, Flocea, Brasco si Primo. Urmatorul videoclip esta la piesa “O Lume Nebuna, Nebuna De Tot”. Alte piese remarcate sunt: “In Anii Ce Au Trecut”, “Gherila PTM”, “40 Kmh”, “Garda” si “Prin Cartieru’ Minunat”. Este al 2-lea album, incluzandu-l pe primul (“Mafia”), care nu are voce feminina pe nici un refren si totodata primul album al unei trupe de la Casa. Mafia este singurul nume cu 5 nominalizari la Premiile MTV 2004. Au reusit sa plece acasa cu doua dintre ele, “cel mai bun album” si “cel mai bun act hip hop”, si in acest sens fiind singurii. Vanzari: 100.000 de exemplare. In septembrie 2004, din partea MediaPro Pictures vine propunerea de a realiza piesa de generic a serialului politist “Baieti Buni” pe care acestia urmau sa-l produca. Proiectul este acceptat si asa se naste piesa “Strazile” care nu putea sa poarte numele filmului deoarece Mafia avea deja albumul “Baietii Buni”. Lansarea filmului se tot amana, iar baietii trebuie sa astepte si ei, in acest timp pregatind un maxi-single.

Al 3-lea produs Casa iese pe piata in 5 ianuarie 2005, acesta fiind albumul “Asalt Raggafonic” al trupei M&G. Proiectul beneficiaza de doua videoclipuri: unul in pelicula si unul in HD. In sfarsit serialul a pornit, B.U.G. Mafia a terminat maxi-single-ul “Strazile”, astfel ca in 16 mai 2005 este asteptat pe piata. Materialul cuprinde piesa originala, remixul acesteia, o alta piesa noua, instrumentalele acestora si doua piese bonus (remixuri la piese mai vechi) menite sa introduca albumul aniversar. Videoclipul va intra din 17 mai la TV K Lumea si Pro TV. In vara lui 2005 este preconizat sa apara primul volum al albumului aniversar “Viata Noastra”, iar al 2-lea volum este programat pentru toamna. Proiectul va cuprinde toate hiturile trupei si cate o piesa noua cu videoclip pentru fiecare volum in parte.

BUG Mafia a inceput sa cante prin '92-'93,la inceput in engleza (din cauza cenzurii), apoi in romaneste. Dupa cum singuri spun: "cand am inceput sa cantam in romaneste, multi nu ne-au mai placut, unul din motive fiind ca intelegeau ceea ce cantam". In 1994 au inregistrat un prim album, "Mafia", (reeditat apoi de Pacific Records), in formatia: Klax 178, Uzzi, Mr. Juice.

Dupa semnarea contractului cu Cat Music/Media Services, in 1996 apare albumul "INC'O ZI, INC'O POVESTE", in colaborare cu Marijuana. Pentru multi fani acest album nu mai are valoarea primului, fiind considerat mai degraba unul comercial. Tot in '96 scot si "NASCUT SI CRESCUT IN PANTELIMON", care completeaza galeria albumelor constituite in jurul hiturilor.

Piesele "Pana cand moartea ne va desparti" si "Nascut si crescut in Pantelimon" au fost fredonate de toti iubitorii genului. Albumul "Deasupra tuturor" , lansat in '97, este considerat de departe cel mai bun de pana atunci si contine piese precum: Hoteluri, Delicvent la 15 ani, Marijuana II, Show TV, Baiat de coltu strazii, 9 MM, Baietii sunt baieti.., Vii sau morti, Gigi ultra plus, Pantelimon 100%.

Chitara si basul apar din nou, BUG Mafia aratand ca nu stiu doar sa faca muzica pe sintetizator. Succesul trupei este din ce in ce mai mare, mai ales ca anul urmator aduce fanilor "DE CARTIER", album ce s-a vandut in 100.000 exemplare, atragand atentia publicului cat si a media. In 1999 apare single-ul "ROMANIA", o piesa excelenta despre romani si despre cum stiu ei sa-si traiasca viata (cel putin unii dintre ei).

Piesa are 5 versiuni (una originala si 4 mixuri). Aparut pe 18 ianuarie 2000, "DUPA BLOCURI" e un material foarte bine lucrat din punct de vedere muzical, vazandu-se preocuparea din ce in ce mai mare a mafiotzilor atat pentru beat cat si pentru continutul versurilor. In acelasi an se lanseaza si "INTOTDEAUNA PENTRU TOTDEAUNA", in octombrie. Albumul contine 11 piese dar nu se bucura de acelasi suscces ca precedentele.

Totusi piesa "Poezie de strada" castiga la categoria cel mai bun proiect rap al anului, din cadrul Premiilor industriei muzicale romanesti. Pana in 2005 mai scot patru albume (incluzand aici si maxi-single-urile): 2001 - Poezie de strada 2002 - b.u.g. mafia prezinta Casa 2003 - Baietii Buni 2005 - Strazile Single-ul "Strazile" este si pe coloana sonora a serialului "Baieti Buni" de la Pro Tv.

In 2006 cei de la Bug Mafia scot al 16-lea album, un best of, numit "Viata Noastra Vol. I".

In ceea ce priveste Premiile MTV de anul acesta hip-hop-erii le-a cerut fanilor sa nu-i voteze. Multa vreme baietii au fost certati cu MTV-ul, iar impacarea a fost conditionata de dorinta acestora de a nu mai fi nominalizati vreodata la nicio categorie in cadrul Premiilor MTV.

"Facem o trupă împreună?..." Niciunul dintre noi nu a realizat că rostirea acestei întrebări va trasa liniile vietilor noastre şi va contura o mare parte din oamenii care suntem astăzi. Acum, la peste 15 de ani de când am început, povestea trupei B.U.G. Mafia pare ireală şi dacă nu ar exista piesele, clipurile, concertele, articolele din presă, aparitiile TV şi nu în ultimul rând voi, fanii trupei şi ai muzicii B.U.G. Mafia, ar fi foarte probabil ca cineva care ar auzi pentru prima dată acest nume şi ce stă în spatele lui să creadă că e vorba despre ceva ieşit din imaginatia bogată a unui scenarist. Deşi expresii şi cuvinte ca "regii hip-hop-ului românesc", "seniorii" sau "fenomenul" au fost alăturate de multe ori numelui B.U.G. Mafia, tot ce am vrut noi să facem a fost să punem pe ritmuri hip-hop versuri care să exprime sentimentele, gândurile şi experientele noastre şi ale celor ce au trăit şi trăiesc la fel ca noi şi să reuşim să facem bani din asta.

Încă din zilele în care aşteptam ore întregi în fata radioului Uniplus şi lipeam afişe pe zidurile Bucureştiului am crezut că avem ceva de spus în muzica românească, chiar dacă atunci uşile erau mult, mult mai putine şi mai greu de deschis. După mai multe încercări destul de nereuşite ale fiecăruia dintre noi, în primăvara anului 1994 am înregistrat prima piesă în studioul de productie al Uniplus. Dia (Octavian Diaconescu) ca inginer de sunet, la bas Florin Cojocaru, componentul trupei Class cunoscut fanilor B.U.G. Mafia ca DJ Senator sau Sensei, noi, un magnetofon cu 8 canale, un computer care "rula" Cool Edit şi o sticlă de vodcă, acestea au fost ingredientele care ne-au făcut să plecăm dimineata, după o noapte foarte lungă, obositi, ametiti, dar foarte fericiti: aveam în buzunar o casetă pe care era imprimată "Straight Outta Da Hell". într-o mică măsură putem spune că suntem şi noi, la fel ca şi alti oameni încă prezenti în media din România ca Mircea Radu şi Andi Moisescu, un "produs" al Uniplus Radio.|

După vara ce a urmat debutului nostru din aprilie 1994 de la Uniplus, am început să lucrăm la piese pentru un prim album şi am reuşit să avem şi o primă aparitie live în Club A din Bucureşti, în cadrul unui concert organizat de DJ Sleek. Fără scenă, cu publicul la un metru în fata noastră, acel concert a fost o experientă pe care am repetat-o după 11 ani la Cluj când, în mijlocul unui cerc format de maxim 20 de fani fanatici B.U.G. Mafia care ştiau mai bine decât noi versurile pieselor, am sustinut unul dintre cele mai memorabile concerte ale noastre. Hip-hop pur.

Sunt multe motive pentru care B.U.G. Mafia există în formula pe care o ştiti voi astăzi, dar primul pe listă a fost "Thuggish Ruggish Bone". Piesa care i-a făcut celebrii pe Bone Thugs era preferata din acea perioadă a fiecăruia dintre noi trei şi ne-a făcut să întelegem de la prima întâlnire Black Underground - Demonii că ne potrivim foarte bine din punctul de vedere al gusturilor muzicale. Câteva luni mai târziu, la câteva zile după al doilea concert din seria Rap Attack, când eram deja hotărâti să facem acest pas, am ales pe stradă numele B.U.G. Mafia, între Piata Universitătii şi Piata Unirii. "Ne trebuie ceva de impact, un cuvânt pe care să îl ştie toată lumea..."

"Mafia" a fost o nebunie de album. Primul proiect gangsta rap din România, în ciuda distributiei inexistente, s-a propagat din Bucureşti către marile oraşe ale tării prin "sharing". E adevărat că întelesul cuvântului era cu totul altul atunci, însă înregistrarea de casete de la o persoană la alta a fost ceea ce a început să creeze zvonuri legate de noi şi de muzica noastră. Un aspect mai putin cunoscut care ne-a ajutat foarte mult a fost impresia pe care albumul a făcut-o în rândul fanilor de muzică rock, mult mai numeroşi decât ascultătorii de hip-hop la mijlocul anilor '90, în cercurile cărora se vorbea despre "nişte rapperi din Bucureşti mai agresivi decât toate trupele româneşti de rock la un loc".

Dacă "Mafia" a fost un album care a atras interes pentru B.U.G. Mafia din partea ascultătorilor de hip-hop şi rock, "înc-o Zi, înc-o Poveste" cu single-ul "Pantelimonu' Petrece" a fost solutia perfectă pentru a ajunge în atentia marelui public. Cu toate că se spune că norocul ti-l faci singur, am avut mult noroc de-a lungul timpului şi vara anului 1996 a fost una din acele coincidente norocoase. Alin Braşov, un tânăr avocat american de origine română şi unul din cei patru asociati în Cat Music/Media Services din acea perioadă, a ascultat primul nostru album şi a venit în studioul lui Tino Furtuna pentru a ne cunoaşte şi a vedea cum merg înregistrările pentru cel de-al doilea. Având cunoştintă despre succesul imens al N.W.A. şi al muzicii hip-hop în general în Statele Unite, Alin, împreună cu fratele său, Emanuel Maxwell, i-au convins şi pe ceilalti parteneri, Dan Popi şi Sorin Golea, să acorde interes trupei B.U.G. Mafia şi să ne propună semnarea unui contract pentru 3 albume. Distributia suferea şi în cazul Cat Music, însă marele avantaj a fost faptul că ei colaborau cu câteva zeci de radiouri din tară pentru realizarea Romanian Top 100, iar asta a permis piesei "Pantelimonu' Petrece" să ajungă la acele posturi radio tocmai după votarea Legii Dreptului de Autor, care impunea un minim de difuzare a muzicii româneşti pe radiourile din tară. Astfel am ajuns să fim difuzati din oră în oră, acest lucru datorându-se şi faptului că "Pantelimonu' Petrece" era prima piesă românească "modernă" care ajungea la acele posturi radio.

"Născut şi Crescut în Pantelimon" şi "Până Când Moartea Ne Va Despărti", piesele alese pentru a promova al treilea album, au dovedit publicului român că nu eram doar o trupă de moment şi că în cazul nostru chiar exista un potential serios. Succesul pe care îl aveam şi în concertele ce începuseră să apară în tară făcea ca numele trupei să se răspândească şi mai rapid. Ca şi cum ar fi fost ceva aranjat de noi, la începutul anului 1997 a intervenit al doilea moment norocos din activitatea noastră: retinerea trupei B.U.G. Mafia pentru o noapte sub acuzatia de ultraj contra bunelor moravuri. Lipsa de inspiratie de care politia din Severin a dat dovadă în 7 februarie 1997 nu a făcut altceva decât să atragă asupra noastră interesul presei din toată tara şi, prin ziarele de mare tiraj, incidentul ne-a adus şi sustinerea tinerilor care vedeau în noi reprezentantii generatiei lor.

"Născut şi Crescut în Pantelimon" a fost important şi din alt punct de vedere pentru noi pentru că atunci am început colaborarea cu Eddy Schneider, producătorul muzical cu care aveam să colaborăm pentru următoarele două albume şi trei maxi-single-uri ale trupei. Astfel, "Hoteluri" şi "IV: Deasupra Tuturor" au beneficiat de un sound mult mai apropiat de ce ne doream noi să facem. Deşi nu a fost difuzat la fel de mult ca albumul anterior, "IV: Deasupra Tuturor" a avut un mare succes comercial şi a adus două noutăti pentru noi: primul maxi-single din istoria trupei, care de altfel a fost şi primul maxi-single editat în România după 1990 şi primul album editat pe CD.

Noi considerăm piesa "Pentru '98" un semi-esec datorită faptului că nu a fost difuzată de radiouri la nivelul aşteptărilor noastre şi datorită clipului realizat pentru piesa de Atomic TV, clip ce nu a fost acceptat de noi pentru că era o prostie făcută în grabă cu un concept de doi lei. A fost prima şi ultima oară când nu ne-am implicat foarte mult în realizarea unui clip B.U.G. Mafia. Am avut însă inspiratia de a include ca B-side pe acest maxi-single o altă piesă de pe albumul ce urma să fie lansat în acel an, iar "N-ai Fost Acolo" a devenit una din piesele ce au încins străzile în acea vară, prefatând ceea ce avea să se întâmple odată cu lansarea albumului "De Cartier".

20 septembrie 1998. "De Cartier", la fel ca şi albumul de debut, a fost lansat cu ocazia zilei de naştere a lui Caddillac. ştiam din vară "ce am făcut", iar reactia ce a urmat a fost tot ce am aşteptat şi chiar mai mult. Vânzările albumului creşteau de la o zi la alta datorită impactului pe care majoritatea pieselor l-au avut la public. Practic, noi consideram că am "încadrat tinta" cu "Născut şi Crescut în Pantelimon" şi "IV: Deasupra Tuturor", iar "De cartier" a fost lovitura decisivă, albumul fiind o combinatie între melodicitatea şi simplitatea primului şi sound-ul hip-hop pe care l-a avut cel de-al doilea. Norocul ne-a surâs şi de data aceasta cu ocazia Premiilor Ballantines, unde, după anuntarea piesei câştigătoare la categoria "Piesa Anului", am simtit peretii Sălii Polivalente zguduindu-se din cauza publicului prezent în sală care tipa "Mafia" şi bătea din picioare. Mass-media ne-a acordat încă o dată atentie pentru ceea ce au considerat ei ca fiind o nedreptate. în acelaşi timp, am fost singurii artişti care i-au felicitat pe cei de la Holograf la întoarcerea lor de pe scenă. Pentru că meritau. Pentru că au făcut şi fac muzică de calitate, pentru longevitatea şi profesionalismul lor şi, nu în ultimul rând, pentru ajutorul pe care Tino Furtuna ni l-a acordat în anii noştri de început.

Tot la Premiile Ballantines a avut loc o altă "premieră": Loredana & B.U.G. Mafia - Lumea E A Mea, o colaborare considerată de foarte multi a fi cea mai reuşită din istoria modernă a muzicii româneşti şi primul videoclip românesc ce se apropia cât de cât de ceea ce ar fi trebuit să însemne un videoclip. Deşi initial am fost reticenti în legătură cu propunerea de a colabora, faptul că piesa s-a făcut pe un instrumental compus de noi şi pe idea noastră de text ne-a făcut să acceptăm, iar rezultatul a ieşit pe măsura aşteptărilor şi a creat, odată cu succesul înregistrat de albumul "De Cartier", ceea ce presa a numit "fenomenul B.U.G. Mafia". Expresiile de acest gen s-au întetit când, după succesul de casă al concertului pe care l-am sustinut la Sala Polivalentă în martie '99, am fost invitati şi discutati într-o editie a emisiunii "Audientă Natională" realizată de Mihai Tatulici în care s-a vorbit mult fără a se spune ceva concret, dar expunerea ne-a prins foarte bine.

Maxi-single-ul ce a urmat a fost, la fel ca şi "IV: Deasupra Tuturor", un proiect cu un sound mai clasic şi chiar dacă "România" nu a înregistrat succes pe radio şi nici nu a avut un clip care să îl promoveze, a fost un proiect foarte apreciat de fanii B.U.G. Mafia şi a înregistrat vânzări considerabile. Atunci am fost etichetati ca fiind "nationalişti" şi cu toate că ne plăcea şi ne place tara noastră, însă asta nu a însemnat că din ochii noştri sau din descrierea pe care piesa o făcea "României noastre" lipseau părtile urâte ale ei. Deseori am fost "interpretati" după nevoile celor ce ne luau interviuri şi ale publicatiilor care îi plăteau pe aceştia.

"De Cartier" a atras, pe lângă aprecierea şi respectul publicului, foarte multe articole şi comentarii rău intentionate la adresa noastră, unele din ele fiind chiar minciuni de cea mai joasă spetă. Din această stare de fapt s-a născut "După Blocuri", cel mai "întunecat", dar şi cel mai complex album al nostru. Am pus pe "După Blocuri" cele mai ciudate idei care ne-au venit în perioada aceea şi asta a surprins destul de mult partea de public care începuse să asculte muzica noastră începând cu "De Cartier". Din această cauză am întalnit multi fani care au înteles ce am intentionat noi cu albumul "După Blocuri" la 2 sau 3 ani de la aparitia lui pe piată. De asemenea, videoclipul filmat pentru piesa ce a dat numele albumului a fost considerat de cei mai multi fani ca fiind cel mai violent clip B.U.G. Mafia şi a avut un succes foarte mare la public pentru că a adus un suflu nou în muzica românească. Un eveniment foarte special pentru noi din perioada imediat următoare lansării albumului a fost concertul de la penitenciarul Rahova. Cuvintele nu au cum să descrie ce am simtit atunci.

Probabil cel mai subestimat album al nostru a fost şi este "întotdeauna Pentru Totdeauna". Da, a avut doar 9 piese, dar un calcul foarte simplu poate arăta că, împreună cu cele două maxi-single-uri extrase de pe el, este de departe cel mai bine vândut album B.U.G. Mafia. Clipurile realizate pentru promovarea proiectului au avut la momentul aparitiei lor şi chiar mult timp după aceea un impact puternic asupra publicului şi a industriei muzicale româneşti. "Un 2 şi Trei De 0" a fost o uşurare pentru noi deoarece atât pentru "Lumea E A Mea", cât şi pentru "După Blocuri" a trebuit să filmăm destul de mult în zăpadă şi în frig şi ne doream să facem ceva "de vară". Am sfârşit bineinteles prin a suferi şi atunci, pentru că la cadrele care s-au filmat în The Office s-a folosit un fum negru şi înecăcios, astfel încât la plecarea din locatie aveam cu totii nările negre ca şi cum am fi prizat cărbuni. Videoclipul realizat pentru "Poezie de Stradă (Remix)" a fost singurul din activitatea noastră în cazul căruia am întrerupt filmările cu scandal şi am plecat, asta deoarece după 20 de ore de filmare eram în situatia de a schimba scenariul pe loc şi de a improviza, ceea ce nu era o optiune pentru noi. Am insistat să se caute altă locatie pentru "masa rotundă" din clip pentru că cei de la Camera de Comert nu ne-ar fi dat voie să fumăm în timpul filmării în sala de conferinte şi, să fim seriosi, "ce mafiot nu fumează un trabuc la o întâlnire cu alti mafioti?..." Până la urmă ne-a dat dreptate şi Petre Năstase, regizorul clipului, pentru că a venit a doua zi cu locatia aceea care făcea contrast cu exteriorul Camerei de Comert şi care a definit acel clip.

Am fost onorati în toti aceşti ani de aprecierea şi respectul multor personalităti ale vietii publice din tara noastră. Cea mai cunoscută şi mediatizată este relatia de prietenie şi respect reciproc care s-a dezvoltat între noi şi Leonard Doroftei. Eram foarte mândri că unul din cei mai mari campioni ai României a ales piesa "România" ca fundal sonor de "motivare" pentru intrările sale în ring cu ocazia meciurilor pe care le-a sustinut începând cu 1999 pentru că l-am admirat încă de când boxa la amatori şi i-am trimis chiar noi CD-ul pe care l-a folosit. Ne-am gândit destul de devreme în 2001 să invităm câtiva sportivi care să se asemene ca spirit cu ceea ce reprezintă B.U.G. Mafia pentru clipul piesei "Cine E Cu Noi". Am reuşit să punem pe listă două nume: Leonard Doroftei şi Marius Lăcătuş. Invitatia de a apărea în clipul nostru i-am făcut-o Moşului cu câteva luni înainte ca el să câştige titlul mondial pentru că noi îl vroiam pe Leonard Doroftei în clip, nu neaparat un campion mondial. Faptul că în clip apare un campion mondial la box cu centura lui a fost un cadou care ne-a fost făcut de Leonard Doroftei câştigând între timp titlul, deci putem spune că şi acest moment poate fi introdus la categoria "coincidente pozitive". De asemenea, prezenta lui Marius Lăcătuş la filmări ne-a bucurat foarte mult pentru că nouă ni s-a părut de când am început să facem muzică rap că atitudinea lui se potrivea foarte mult cu a noastră, fapt care s-a simtit şi în câteva din textele trupei. Cu aceste două mari nume ale sportului românesc a început campania de promovare a compilatiei "B.U.G. Mafia prezintă CASA", iar clipul rezultat din colaborarea cu cei doi este şi astăzi unul din cele mai apreciate din "repertoriul" nostru. "B.U.G. Mafia prezintă CASA" a avut şi ea un traseu asemănător cu clipul, având un mare impact la public şi fiind foarte apreciată şi de către posturile de radio din tară şi de cluburi.

A urmat o pauză mai lungă până la aparitia albumului următor pentru că am încercat să experimentăm mai mult cu ideile pieselor şi pe multe din instrumentalele ce se aud pe varianta finală a acestui album am înregistrat cel putin două idei de piese şi text. Spre exemplu, textul piesei "Româneşte" descria o ceartă verbală destul de agresivă între un baiat şi o fată şi instrumentalul suna destul de diferit fată de varianta finală, pentru ca ulterior textul să ajungă în forma în care se regăseşte pe album. Calitatea sunetului şi surpriza pe care a creat-o "Româneşte" au dat rezultate şi au facut şi din "Băietii buni" un succes discografic marca B.U.G. Mafia, acesta fiind considerat unul din cele mai bune albume ale anului 2004 pe piata muzicală din România. Modul în care am abordat subiectul "politică" pe piesa "Româneşte" şi pe clipul ce s-a filmat pentru ea a atras din nou o avalanşă de aprecieri la adresa noastră şi, aşa cum probabil era de aşteptat, tot felul de propuneri venite din partea întregului spectru politic pentru a colabora în cadrul campaniei pentru alegerile programate la sfârşitul acelui an. Acestea nu ne-au interesat pentru că ne pregăteam de lucruri mai serioase, adică să începem lucrul la albumul aniversar al trupei, "Viata Noastră" şi vroiam să păstrăm intactă credibilitatea atât de greu dobândită a trupei. "O Lume Nebună, Nebună De Tot" a fost al doilea clip filmat pentru a promova albumul, iar productia de care acesta a beneficiat a fost una din cele mai complexe întâlnite până în acel moment la clipurile româneşti. Ca de obicei, am fost probabil una din putinele trupe care au pus la bătaie sume mai importante pentru a face clipuri de calitate.

La putin timp însă după începerea productiei pentru "Viata Noastră Vol. 1" a venit din partea ProTV o "propunere pe care n-o puteam refuza". Provocarea de a compune şi produce genericul serialului "Băieti Buni" a fost ceva nou pentru noi, însă rezultatul este una din cele mai importante piese ale noastre şi a devenit una din cele mai difuzate piese ale anului 2005 atât pe radio, cât şi pe TV. Filmările pentru clipul piesei "Străzile" s-au întins pe parcursul a trei nopti şi au avut loc în centrul Bucureştiului, fiind "conduse" tot de către Andreea Păduraru şi Tudor Lucaciu, acelaşi tandem care ne-a pus în practică ideile pentru "Româneşte" şi "O Lume Nebună, Nebună De Tot", iar îmbinarea acestor cadre cu imagini din serialul "Băieti Buni" a fost o altă premieră pentru noi. "Străzile" este cel mai bine vândut maxi-single din discografia B.U.G. Mafia şi pentru că B-side-ul "Hai Cu Mine" a avut la rândul său un mare succes în cluburile din România.

"Viata Noastră", albumul aniversar despre care am vorbit foarte mult încă din anul 2000, s-a dovedit a fi cea mai grea încercare prin care am trecut de când am început. A fost ca şi cum am fi fost o familie cu 30 de copii care vrea să-i facă pe toti doctori. Productia celor două volume a durat 5 ani, însă produsul final este la înăltimea aşteptărilor noastre şi suntem foarte multumiti că am reuşit să îl facem, pentru că el a fost făcut în primul rând pentru noi, pentru ca B.U.G. Mafia să aibă o "carte de vizită" care să reprezinte la înăltime prima perioadă a activitătii noastre de studio. Faptul că în cazul volumului 2 am avut ocazia să lucrăm în cel mai performant studio al momentului din România ne-a permis să experimentăm foarte mult din punct de vedere tehnic şi a fost o plăcere să folosim toate noile aparate şi butoane apărute în peisaj, adică să producem muzică la nivelul la care am visat încă de la primul album. Piesele şi clipurile ce au promovat aceste două volume nu mai au nevoie de nicio prezentare. Dacă "Viata Noastră" şi "Cu Tălpile Arse" sunt două piese noi care abordează două subiecte complet diferite şi care au schimbat anumite perceptii legate de noi şi de muzica noastră, filmările pentru "Pantelimonu' Petrece" şi pentru "în Anii Ce Au Trecut" au fost o adevărată plăcere pentru că am reuşit să punem imagini pe două din cele mai reprezentative piese B.U.G. Mafia. "în Anii Ce Au Trecut" e un clip pe care îl aşteptam de cel putin 5 ani pentru că este şi primul nostru clip filmat în concert şi nu am vrut să facem niciun compromis din acest punct de vedere. Rezultatul final credem că argumentează foarte bine această decizie.

În 2010, odată cu "Supranatural" şi "Bag Pula-n Lume şi V-o Fac Cadou", am început să punctăm directia în care vom merge în viitor, dar cea mai importantă realizare a noastră din acestă primă jumătate a anului este fără îndoială site-ul oficial al trupei, un proiect aşteptat de cea mai mare parte dintre voi de prea mult timp. Sperăm că ce veti descoperi acum şi în viitor pe www.bugmafiaoficial.ro să vă placă şi să vă facă să spuneti că aşteptarea a meritat.
